Miami International Approach - Explanation
ILS Approach. Miami International, Rwy 9L
1.) Your relation to the Glideslope. If the line is above the centerline, you are too low. If it's below center, you are too high. Use throttle to make altitude adjustments. The closer you are to the Localizer, the more sensitive these become.
2.) Your relation to the Localizer. Again, if the line is to the left, turn left. You are to the right of the runway.
3.) Course setting. This is the heading for the ILS that you find on your chart. This will help line up your arrows in Nav1
4.) Nav2. This shows distance and direction to the VOR you input in your Nav2 radio
5.) Notice the relation of the plane on the GPS. I am halfway between the KROME and COPRA intersections. You should be at 3000' when you cross COPRA. If you notice the altimeter, we're slightly below that, so the Glideslope indicator (ref 1) shows we should pull up slightly.
6.) The glideslope 'feather' It will appear much shorter on the GPS than on the approach chart.
